PeelAway 1 is a highly effective water-based paint and varnish removal system designed for restoration and renovation projects involving multiple layers of old coatings.

Its alkaline formulation is particularly suited to older oil-based and lead-containing paints. PeelAway 1 works beneath multiple layers of coating, allowing them to be removed together rather than stripping each layer individually. The system is particularly useful for detailed, decorative and architectural surfaces where conventional stripping methods may be difficult.

How to Use

1. Carry Out a Test Patch: Always test a small area before treating the full surface. This helps determine the required application thickness, dwell time and suitability of PeelAway 1 for the coating and substrate.

2. Apply PeelAway 1: Apply the paste evenly over the coating using the supplied application spatula.

3. Apply the Blanket: Place the PeelAway blanket over the wet paste and smooth it firmly into position, removing trapped air.

4. Allow to Work: Leave the system in place for the required dwell time. The appropriate period will depend on the type, thickness, age and number of paint layers being removed.

5. Remove the Coating: Carefully lift the blanket together with the softened paint and remover. Remove any remaining coating or residue as required.

6. Clean & Neutralise: After removal, clean the surface and use the supplied neutraliser where required in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

7. Allow to Dry: Allow the surface to dry thoroughly before applying a new paint, coating or finish.

Coverage

Coverage varies considerably depending on the number, type and thickness of the paint layers being removed. The 5kg kit is supplied with 4 x 1m² PeelAway blankets.
